Foundation Course

‘Foundation’ is an intensive preparatory course aimed at photography enthusiasts. This course is designed to help you get a grip on the essentials, in fun to learn and interactive sessions conducted in small groups. The method of imparting knowledge, unique to ISP, is based on the concept of DIY (Do It Yourself). The idea is to equip the students to learn by experiencing real life situations and to deal with the dynamics of the current day environment. We inculcate a multi-disciplinary approach, which promotes teamwork and creativity at the same pace with a conscious effort to educate the student about both art and business. We have a team of highly experienced photographers who help you get to an expert level quickly. Let our experience and numerous practical examples enrich your learning experience.

 Course Content:

 Day 01: Basic introduction to photography and various aspects of photography, looking at and understanding basics of street photography with help of works of masters of photography as a group discussion and analysis.

 Day 02: Understanding functionality of the Camera, Exposure and getting correct exposure and improvising from the correct exposure, aperture and how to use different aperture for how it affects an image, shutter speed, freezing and blurring images creatively and ISO, working under low light conditions

 Day 03: Understanding modes like White Balance and true color, Metering Modes and getting correct exposure, Focus Modes, understanding selective focusing, Understanding about Lenses and focal length,

 Days 04: Exposure compensation, Diaptor, active D lighting etc. How to create a default camera setting before shooting & use all modes quickly. Basic understanding and rules of composition

 Day 05: Basic Photoshop and enhancing images, sizing, converting to Black & white, Photoshop tools, exposure/contrast, Raw v/s Jpeg, Color correction, a basic comparative of Photoshop v/s Traditional dark room and relevance of Photoshop in photography today.

 Day 06: Review of all sessions with guided practical session

Faculty Profile

Ranjan Basu, an experienced photojournalist started his career in 1982 and has worked across media houses. He worked with the legendary photographer, Raghu Rai in The India Today Group. He has to his credit publications like Hindustan Times and Asian Age. He was the group photo editor of Planman Media. Basu has covered many important news events in the last three decades and his work has been published in major newspapers and magazines across the world.

Ranjan Basu won a National Award in Photography in the year 2008. He spent 14 days with Naxal cadres in Chattisgarh jungle to cover their lifestyle; amongst other such projects he has also covered the lifestyle of Defense force at the Siachen base camp. An eye to detailing and precision is his trademark.
