It is better to have a good level of experience to enroll into Elite category otherwise it might cause inconvenience for the entire peloton due to lack of bike handling skills and general racing experience.

2. Amateur category is open for anybody who wants to race irrespective of age.

Note: 1) Whoever participates in the Women Master category should stick to the Master category for the rest of the season, they can't go back to Women category in other road races of that particular season. 2) Women above 40 who want to race the distances that the Elite racers do and want to compete at the Masters can still choose to do so by registering in the Open Masters category. 3) We need a minimum of 10 participants on race day in the Women Master category. In case of lesser number of participation, then the Women Master category will merged with Women category and all women riders will share the same podium irrespective of their age.

What is Merckx-style TT?
The Merckx-style time trial (TT) format is a type of individual time trial in cycling named after the legendary Belgian cyclist Eddy Merckx. In a Merckx-style TT, the rules are designed to make the race more about the rider's abilities than the equipment they use. Here are the key characteristics of a Merckx-style TT:
Equipment Restrictions: In a Merckx-style TT, riders are limited in terms of the equipment they can use. Specifically, they are not allowed to use aerodynamic time trial bikes, aero helmets, or other specialised aerodynamic equipment. Riders must use a standard road bike with traditional drop handlebars and a regular helmet.
Clothing: Riders must also wear standard cycling clothing rather than the aerodynamic or specialised time trial suits often used in conventional time trials.
Positioning: Riders are not allowed to adopt extreme aerodynamic positions commonly seen in time trials, such as the "super tuck" or "aero tuck" positions.
The Merckx-style TT format aims to level the playing field by reducing the impact of expensive, specialised equipment and focusing on the rider's pure cycling abilities. It emphasises the rider's fitness, pacing, and strategy rather than relying heavily on the advantages of aerodynamics.
This format is often used in amateur or recreational cycling events to promote fair competition and make time trials more accessible to a wider range of participants who may not have access to expensive time trial equipment.

BBCh Race Disclaimer:
Kindly Note: Bangalore Bicycle Championships is totally run by volunteers and we are extremely short of hands. In the event or pre-event or post-event there may be few human errors which are completely unintentional. To sort out those errors or issues we might take some time which may seem longer than usual but again that is because of the crunch of resources. We understand that these events are run by the registration fees collected from the participants and naturally the participants can expect the basic error free running of the event. But we sincerely request all to bear with us for any delay. Thank you for your understanding.
