Synopsis: William Shakespeare’s Othello, the play on which Athhoi is based, hatches up in a plot where a black skinned man is denuded and debauched by a white skinned. The white skinned slowly and steadily injects deadly venom of mistrust and everything is distraught. Though this play surfaces around love and breaking of love, yet in the crevices of the same lie the grotesque masque of imperialism, the rise of the white skinned and the authoritarianism of the high class ideologies. In Athhoi, there is an attempt to search for the internal politics of cast mayhem throughout the system with a rural setting in the plot making. It asks why one person shall be bound to be condemned only of the “fault” of being a dalit.
